The Idea of America
American exceptionalism under fire
Went on a quick day trip with the family recently and one of the stops was a shopping mall. Now I’m not sure if any guys can relate to this but I become emotionally and physically exhausted when shopping is on the agenda. Suffering from this strange malady I sat down in the comfortable chairs placed in the middle of all the walking masses. The furniture has been provided by some kind foresight apparently for all the other like minded men who are waiting on their wives to emerge from the stores they have disappeared into.
While sitting there I observed so many people from all nationalities and backgrounds. I need to state here that I love all people because God loves all people. I love learning about different cultures and am proud that our country is one that so many wish to come to. So having said that there is cause for alarm. It’s not that so many nationalities are coming here but it’s the wrong ideas they are holding on too from the failed countries they leave. I will explain in a moment.
I’d like to address some wrong or misleading statements made about legal and illegal immigration. The first is that our country has been made great by immigrants. This is in fact incorrect. We have been put together by immigrants and built by immigrants true, but that isn’t what has made us the envy of the world. The second is that diversity is our strength. This also is incorrect. Diversity of purpose and philosophies can actually lead to chaos and failure. We are united not by our diversity but by our common purpose and dream. The third isn’t a statement but a knowingly false attempt to give moral equiveillance to the mass of illegals pouring over our southern border with those who have legally entered and became law abiding citizens of America. We allow over a million legal immigrants every year(an historically high number) in addition to this we currently are being inundated by millions of illegals.
In pondering where we are as a nation and what in particular has made us great and exceptional I rediscovered what I instinctively already knew. We are unique among the nations of men because of an idea or set of ideas. This idea of freedom, self governance and self reliance can only thrive in a culture governed by Christian principles. Our threat and danger is not the race or nationalities that are pouring in, but rather the opposing, failing and dangerous ideas of the nations and cultures so many are leaving. There really has been only two central and opposing ideas in our modern era. These ideas are self governance and freedom rooted in Christianity versus any variant of Marxism on the other. Marxism despises God, foments conflict in race, and in class with the purpose of ushering in a totalitarian government that can enforce Karl Marx’s worldview of a godless utopia.
Illegal immigration isn’t the only danger to the idea of America. The education system(media and government too for that matter!) has been totally overrun with Marxists. American exceptionalism and greatness is no longer taught in our schools. Instead a leftist propaganda about white supremacy and the systematic oppression of minorities which would make Karl Marx proud. If our own citizens are ashamed of or ignorant of who we are and blinded to the dangers of radical liberalism then we no longer have the strength to win in the arena of ideas.
We are in grave danger from within because we do not know who we are and what has made us exceptional. Our greatness isn’t race based, it isn’t patriarchal, it isn’t privilege or where we were born. American exceptionalism is rooted in Christian beliefs and principles but it’s more than religious. It’s the idea that all men are created equal and endowed by their creator certain unalienable rights. This idea has lifted millions upon millions from poverty and death and granted the freedom to worship God and raise their families in peace as they see fit. America has been a beacon of hope and life to countries all over this world. We are the last great hope and shame on us if we let this light go out by our own laziness and ignorance. We have to close the border, we have to deport millions and we have to start teaching truth to our kids again.
